Our love of timber could not come without love and respect for nature itself.
In SHOWOOD we do everything we can so that through our procedures our products remain true to their nature, and we make sure that the same practices are as environment friendly as possible.
For this reason, we trade products that have been produced following procedures in compliance with the forest regulations, as defined by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and which are certified under one of the two.
SHOWOOD, as a modern and innovative company in the field of natural timber trade, is greatly concerned about the sustainable management of the resources used to create the products it offers.
Our place amongst the few innovative companies with certified procedures from the largest and most reliable international regulating bodies in the sustainable forest management sector, FSC and PEFC, is a testament of our will and our commitment.
That way we can be certain that we help create a protective shield against the thoughtless deforestation, offering at the same time high quality natural timber products for everyone to enjoy.
What is the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)?
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-governmental organization, that was founded in 1993, aiming to support the forests of the planet and as the most reliable entity in matters of rational forest management.
Its mission is to ensure that forest management is carried out in a responsible and proper manner, to protect the natural reserves and to respect the rights of local communities.
How does the Forest Stewardship Council keep everything in check?
The success in achieving its goal is based on the the so-called FSC - Supervision Chain. It is a process that controls the exploitation of forest products, starting from the verification of the source of a timber product within the supply chain and extending to the production of the end product in question.
The certification is issued from independent authorities under the guidance of FSC.
What is the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification?
PEFC is an international non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.
Its principles are applied throughout the forest supply chain to promote good forestry practices and to ensure that timber products and non-forest products are respected to the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
The certification is issued from independent authorities under the guidance of PEFC.
